Welcome to El Palomino Motel
El Palomino Motel stands as a distinctive lodging choice on North College Avenue in Fort Collins, Colorado. With a modest 3.1-star rating, it offers a blend of vintage charm and genuine hospitality that sets it apart from typical motels. Guests often highlight the warm, welcoming staff who strive to create a family-like atmosphere, going beyond expectations to accommodate every request.
The motel’s aesthetic is a nostalgic nod to the 1960s American highway culture, merging an old cabin feel with classic roadside motel vibes. Though some rooms display signs of age, ongoing renovations aim to bring them up to standard while preserving this unique character. Travelers seeking affordability without sacrificing a sense of personal care will appreciate the comfortable, clean rooms equipped with modern conveniences such as Wi-Fi, microwaves, refrigerators, and Roku TVs.
El Palomino Motel is also pet-friendly and kid-friendly, making it a practical choice for diverse travelers. Its location provides easy access to local sightseeing and recreational activities, enhancing the overall visitor experience. While it lacks certain amenities like a pool, restaurant, airport shuttle, or fitness center, the motel compensates with free parking, breakfast, and accessible facilities.
However, the motel’s ambiance can be polarizing. Some guests note an unsettling environment and occasional disturbances, reflecting the complex social dynamics often found in vintage motels. Despite these factors, the motel holds a certain gritty authenticity that appeals to those looking for more than just sterile accommodation.
In sum, El Palomino Motel delivers a rare blend of historic character and heartfelt service. It’s a place where the past lingers in the architecture and the present thrives in the generosity of its people. For travelers valuing warmth and personality over luxury, it offers a memorable, if imperfect, stay in Fort Collins.

The motel it's self is vintage in a Dusk Till Dawn kind of way. The staff couldn't be more welcoming and hospitable. They always go the extra mile for guests regardless of the request. The rooms are dated but being renovated. The mix of old cabin feel and 1960's Highway motel is quite unique. If you want a decent place to stay with staff that treats you more like family than guests I recommend the El Palomino.
The people are amazing. They do what no one else does. The owner should get a. State voucher. For support of housing.. They need help and they could fix the rooms to standard condition. They are lacking and $$$$would be able to fix them. But they were very kind to me and my kitty.
This place is an absolute gem. I found out I have a roommate, Mr. Mouse was hangin out with me, i fed him some cheese and we snuggled up warm to the sound of shouting drug users outside my room, the other residents are absolutely a delight when they are having Jerry Springer themed screaming matches at 1 am. The courtyard has an unsettling atmosphere that really makes me feel completely unsafe at all times of the day or night. The same feeling that you get when you walk home at night and your hair is standing on end. Overall, i would recommend 10/10. Also, the bike rack is complete comedic gold. Take a gander at it.
I showed up about 5 minutes before they stop taking people in for rooms. The young lady at the desk was sweet and accommodating. I really like the room . Yes it was older but it was very clean. Had a microwave, a great heater, a refrigerator, white cozy towels, a ND I couldn't believe it a Roku tv! Anyways , for an inexpensive, safe place to rest I would suggest it!
